Do you have a favorite book genre? How about favorite books? I do! I’ll start by sharing my favorite genre with you first. After that, I’ll tell you a few of my favorite books. My favorite books genre is self help / self development aka self improvement. I loveeee themmm! These self development books have certainly changed my life.
My Story With Reading
I love books that feed, inspire, motivate and teach my mind. These are the only type of books I read and I’m not ashamed to say it either because guess what, why not help yourself to become the best you you can possibly be?
But, I’m going to be REAL. I was never actually a fan of reading – it was never something I did in my past time. Not to mention during high school days when we had to read books for Literature class. Ugh. I could barely make it through to the end of the books. Who am I kidding?! Sometimes even the middle of the book.
Then, I remember about 3 years ago, I was in a position where I was feeling stuck and wanted more out of my life. Wanted to find my purpose. This usually means change is coming! Consequently, change did come. I tried again at this reading thing and what I noticed was that it had EVERYTHING to do with my interest in a genre. So the self-help genre did it for me.
However, I was still finding it hard to finish a book and quickly. It wasn’t until I discovered Audible and let me tell you, I’ve read more than I have ever before AND in a shorter period. It’s so great! They have a trial period and you get a certain number of freebies, so definitely take advantage and give it a try, especially if you are not big on reading. That was a game changer for me.
So now to the self development books that resonated so deeply, truly helped me grow in many areas of my life and changed my life…for the better!
